Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan officiates newly-built RM94.4mil Kota Baru court complex

KOTA BARU: Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Dr Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra today launched the RM94.4 million newly-built Kota Baru Court complex near Bandar Baru Tunjong here.

The complex, which began its construction in 2016, will replace the existing court complex in Kota Baru town.

In his speech, Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan thanked the Federal government and all quarters for their concern at improving the service of courts in the state.

"With the new complex, it is highly hoped that all cases referred to the court can be implemented smoothly.

"I am confident that the complex can be a new catalyst for the state and give a positive impact to the country," said the Ruler.

Also present were Law and Institutional Reforms deputy minister Ramkarpal Singh and Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

Ramkarpal said the new complex would be equipped with the latest information technology system with high Internet services.

"The complex is built to create a more conducive work environment, thus enabling the staff to provide better and more efficient service.

"It also ensures the judicial service in the country is always rated as good and comparable to other developed countries," he added.

He said the new complex would replace the old one in the town area and would have three high courts, five sessions courts and five magistrates' courts.
