BATU PAHAT: The flood situation in Johor is showing signs of improvement as the number of victims has decreased to 21,127 from 23,663 last night.
The State Disaster Management Committee reported that 83 relief centres were still operational in two affected districts, namely Batu Pahat and Segamat, as of 8am today.
"Batu Pahat remains the most affected district, with 21,089 victims from 6,031 families being sheltered in 81 relief centres.
"Meanwhile, the Segamat district has only 38 victims from 13 families being housed in two relief centres," the statement read.
It further said although the weather in all 10 districts is reported to be clear and no rivers are at a dangerous level, five roads are still closed to light vehicles.
"These roads include Jalan Parit Haji Arif/Sri Dayung near the Sri Dayung Bridge, Jalan Parit Jambi (Parit Jambi Bridge), Jalan Haji Arif (Sri Medan Health Clinic), Jalan Parit Warijo (the whole stretch), and Jalan Sri Bengkal (Kampung Sri Bengkal).
"Only heavy vehicles are allowed to pass through these roads. The situation is being closely monitored by authorities."— BERNAMA
