Mid Valley City temporarily closes following fire incident, no injuries reported

KUALA LUMPUR: Mid Valley City will temporarily close its doors to patrons following a recent fire incident at the premises.

In a statement, Mid Valley City management confirmed that a fire had broken out at the external TNB Substation in Mid Valley City and was successfully contained by the Emergency Response Team.

"Members of the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 10.42am to subdue the fire," the statement read.

As of 11.38am, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties, the management said.

It said Fire and Rescue Department personnel are currently on scene conducting all necessary investigations and securing the premises with no further disruptions to the mall operations.

"In prioritising the safety of all present, a temporary disruption to power supply will be implemented until authorities authorise its restoration.

"Mid Valley City will be closed until further notice. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reiterate that the safety of our shoppers and guests remains our top priority," the management added.

Mid Valley City entails Mid Valley Megamall, The Gardens shopping mall and three hotels, namely the Cititel Mid Valley, The Boulevard Hotel Kuala Lumpur and the Gardens Hotels and Residences.

Earlier, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) Mid Valley KL announced that all shows will be cancelled and the cinema will be temporarily closed until further notice.
