Five injured in head-on crash near Felda Lok Heng

KOTA TINGGI: Five people were injured, including a seven-year-old boy, in a head-on collision along Jalan Waha in Felda Lok Heng near here yesterday.

Normizam Bachok, 47, who was at the wheel of the Proton Exora, his wife Sarimah Kornain, 44, and their seven-year-old son Muhammad Harith Zakwan Normizam, sustained minor injuries.

They managed to free themselves from their vehicle before the Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived.

While the Proton Wira driver Hussein Abdullah @ Chew Tiong, 68, and his 64-year-old wife Rosenah Sukami, who were pinned to their seats, sustained severe injuries.

The district Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Syukri Mohd Yusof, said eight personnel were dispatched to the scene in the 4.03pm accident.

"It took us more than an hour to free the two victims from the wreckage," he said, adding that the victims were rushed to the nearest hospital.

Meanwhile, in Kulai, a man escaped unscathed when he lost control of his car and landed in a 10-metre-deep ravine along Jalan Sengkang in Inas, near here, at 11.39pm yesterday.

The driver was alone in the car when it skidded and veered into the gorge by the hilly roadside.
