KUALA LUMPUR: Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said political foes, who labeled the party's success in the 15th General Election (GE15) as 'green wave', were aiming to sow sentiments of Islamophobia.
Hadi, in a post titled 'Minda Presiden Pas' on his official Facebook page, said certain quarters held on to that view, especially the DAP, which has skewed perceptions towards Islam.
"Pas' success is deemed negative because of Islam, up to the point that the party won the most seats among all political parties.
"This is besides being able to successfully wrest and administer several states, amid a limited jurisdiction due to the flawed concept of federalism.
"However, the little concept of Islamic administration has shown that Pas is the party with the most integrity. Is that a reason why some see it as hazardous?," wrote Hadi yesterday.
Pas had been using the term "green wave" in facing elections, at least since 2018, to signify its intentions to win more state and parliamentary seats.
Hadi had compared Pas' administration to the unity government, which he said was full of misconducts, corruption, leakages and deceit, and the term which was invented by those leading the administration differed from the true definition in politics.
He also said that Islamophobia which was widespread in Western countries failed to hinder the progress of Islam but had opened the eyes of people to study it deeper.
"In this country, many media channels were used without dignity and without shame to find and show the weaknesses of the state government under Pas' administration.
"Such an act is even more terrible than animals who have no sense because even animals can choose only good fruits to consume."
Hadi said Pas had several times tried to come to peace with DAP through dialogues but it was in vain.
DAP, he said, had forced Pas against speaking too much about Islam in order to protect its influence.
Hadi said some DAP leaders were pushed aside after opposing their party's move to intervene in Islamic matters stipulated in the Federal Constitution.
DAP had also interfered in alcohol issues in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis when it only concerned the Muslims.
"Even the banning of illegal gambling which was supported by some non-Muslim did not please DAP and its peers.
"Are all of these the reasons for the danger of the green wave?
"Now Pas has successfully given explanations to non-Muslims without forcing them to convert to Islam and has set up Pas Supporters Congress.
"The statement on the danger of the green wave is a double standard towards Islam, in a situation where they can accept all man-made ideologies, including the most extremes such as liberalism and communism," said Hadi.
