IPOH: Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) recorded a commendable income after achieving a revenue of RM794.8 million last year.
Perak Menteri Besar, who is also the Perak SADC chairman, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said with such good financial performance, the agency was able to contribute a total of RM55.33 million throughout last year to assist the state government and the people of Perak.
He said the contribution included segments such as Annual Returns to the State Government (PTKKN), Distribution to Farmers and Farms for the People, Contributions to Various People's Programmes and the Perak State Entrepreneur Development Programme.
"The largest contribution by Perak SADC is through PTKKN, amounting to RM20 million, which can be used for the development and welfare of the people," he said.
He said this during a media session after officiating the Perak Agricultural Development Corporation Contribution Handover Ceremony (Perak SADC) and launching the Eid Sales Pre-Order (Chicken, Meat, Eggs) at Subsidised Prices, and the 2024 Perak Agrotourism Carnival (PAC 2024) at the Perak SADC headquarters here on Tuesday.
Also present were Perak SADC Group chief executive officer Datuk Yahanis Yahya, Perak state secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, Perak legal advisor Datuk Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, and State Financial Officer Datuk Zaki Mahyudin.
He added that Perak SADC had contributed RM18.8 million to the people, including distribution to farmers and farms for the people, benefiting 7,123 recipients to help reduce the increasing cost of living through cash financial assistance.
He said RM11.76 million was also allocated to implement various community programmes, including the Urban Farming Community Programme, sacrificial cattle donations and the Saarani Teacher Tuition Programme.
Meanwhile, RM4.77 million was allocated to the Perak Entrepreneur Development Programme, benefiting 1,129 entrepreneurs.
This includes interest-free loans, Asnaf Entrepreneur Grants, Agrofest organisation, Women Entrepreneurs Empowerment Programme, as well as several business enhancement and entrepreneurship strengthening programmes.
"Through the implementation of these assistance programmes, Perak SADC is confident of producing and developing entrepreneurs capable of competing at a higher level through business management skills support, advisory services and training, and financial injections from the corporation.
"In addition, these assistance programmes not only provide opportunities for existing entrepreneurs to further develop their enterprises, but also help the needy to carry out agricultural businesses through grant provisions," he said.
At the event, Saarani also officiated the Handover of the Perak State Mobile Shop Contribution (KBNP) worth RM300,000 to Darul Ridzuan Upbuilding Foundation as well as the Oath Ceremony for the Perak SADC Subsidy Allocation Fund worth RM3 million for the mobile stall sales programme.
The subsidy covers the sale of KBNP goods, and chicken and egg sales subsidies by Perak SADC.
