Teen escapes harm as tree crashes into home

KOTA MARUDU: A 17-year-old girl narrowly escaped harm after a tree crashed onto her home, causing minor injuries to her left leg.

Fortunately, her mother managed to free her before the rescue team's arrival.

The district Fire and Rescue department received a call at 7.21am about the incident at Kampung Tandek, Kota Marudu.

Despite the distance of 15km between the fire station and the scene, responders wasted no time in arriving.

"Operations Commander reported that a tree had fallen on a house, causing damage to 70 per cent of the roof.

"The fire team acted by cutting and clearing the fallen tree branches using chainsaws and then moving them to a safe location," according to a statement.

After ensuring there were no further dangers at the site, the operation was concluded at 9.28am.
