Works Minister instructs highway authority, SPE to check cracks on Jalan Cheras flyover [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Highway Authority and the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) concessionaire have been instructed to immediately inspect the visible cracks on the structure of a flyover on Jalan Cheras.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, in a social media posting on X yesterday, said he views the matter seriously as he is concerned about the safety of all people, especially road users.

"I have instructed the Malaysian Highway Authority and the SPE highway concessionaire to go to the site tonight (last night) to carry out an immediate inspection and evaluation.

"The safety of all parties, especially road users, must be prioritised," said Nanta.

In the posting, he also reposted a social media user who pointed out the visible cracks on the structure of the flyover.

"Are the cracks on the flyover getting wider?" asked the social media user.

The posting was accompanied by two pictures showing a comparison of the flyover in April and this month.
