LANGKAWI: A teenager died in a road accident involving four motorcycles near Jalan Padang Matsirat here yesterday.
The deceased, identified as Muhammad Naqib Rashidi, 18, died at the scene due to severe head injuries.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said initial investigations found that the deceased had lost control of his Yamaha Y15.
He said the deceased was travelling from the direction of Kampung Perana towards Kuah.
"Upon reaching a bend at the accident location, the deceased lost control of his motorcycle, hit the road divider, and was thrown onto the road," he said in a statement today.
"Three other Yamaha Y15 riders, who were travelling in the same direction, could not avoid the deceased's motorcycle due to their close proximity and collided with it.
"As a result of the accident, the deceased sustained severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene."
He said the other riders sustained minor injuries and were brought to Sultanah Maliha Hospital here for treatment.
"The deceased's body was also taken to the hospital for post-mortem."
He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
