Murder victim Nur Farah Kartini buried in Pekan

PEKAN: A sombre atmosphere enveloped the funeral of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, who was murdered at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Bernam in Selangor last week.

The 25-year-old's remains were laid to rest at the Kampung Nyiur Manis Muslim burial ground near here about 5.20pm today.

Her casket was brought to the cemetery in a hearse provided by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in Tanjung Malim, Perak. She was alumni who graduated in December last year.

Nur Farah Kartini's mother was seen trying to fight back tears while her siblings remained composed as they sat nearby and watched the burial.

Peramu Jaya assblyman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Najib, who is also the state Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman were among those who paid their last respects.

The burial ceremony was completed at around 5.50pm.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing after delivering a rental car to a customer on July 10 before she was found dead near Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor on July 15.

A police lance corporal has been arrested in connection with the murder.

Earlier today, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the body belonged to Nur Farah based on the DNA results.
