SLIM RIVER: The water level of Sungai Trolak fell slightly this morning compared with yesterday, but the river is still quite muddy.
Police are searching for additional evidence in the river in Kampung Batu 4 here in the murder case of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris graduate Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25.
Checks at 10.30am today found that sandbanks were visible in parts of the river.
Yesterday, the river's water level swelled and the current was swift due to heavy rain upstream.
This led to the postponement of the police's operation to search for more evidence in the case.
Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Ahmad Faizal Tahrim said Sungai Trolak's water level rose by more than 1m yesterday and debris made it unsafe for divers to conduct the search.
He said the search would resume when the weather improved and the forensic team was ready.
Previously, police found a handbag that is believed to have belonged to Nur Farah Kartini in a search in the area.
Before that, police found a smartphone that might have been hers in a ditch at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Keledang, Hulu Selangor.
Nur Farah Kartini's body was found at the plantation last Monday.
A 26-year-old policeman was arrested and is being investigated for murder.
On Thursday, Nur Farah Kartini was laid to rest at the Kampung Nyiur Manis cemetery in Pekan, Pahang.
