Rantau Panjang WTP reopens, partial water supply restored by Air Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: Air Selangor announced the reconnection of water supply to a number of areas following the reopening of Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (Rantau Panjang WTP) at 6pm today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement said however, WTPs at Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), and Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) are still undergoing maintenance as they recorded pollution reading of 1 TON.

"Following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah, the water sampling tests for SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 WTPs still recorded a reading of 1 TON.

"The temporary shutdown of these WTPs, seven Air Selangor regions which are Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor regions are experiencing unscheduled water disruption," it said.

Earlier it was reported that more than 1,000 areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will experience water supply disruptions following odour pollution detected in Sungai Kundang and Sungai Sembah.

"Air Selangor is doing our best to mitigate the impact on consumers. Alternative assistance through water tankers has been mobilised to the affected areas by giving priority to critical premises such as hospitals, clinics, dialysis centres and funeral service centres during this period of unscheduled water supply disruption," it said via a statement this evening.
