1 dead, 2 injured in motorcycle crash

GOMBAK: A motorcyclist was killed after his high-powered machine crashed into a car before colliding with two other motorcycles along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the incident occurred at 1am yesterday on Km22.8 of the highway.

"Investigations revealed that a 46-year-old man was driving a Proton Exora from Jerantut to Dengkil when it was hit in the rear by a high-powered Kawasaki motorcycle.

"The 47-year-old rider fell on the ground and hit two other motorcyclists who were also riding high-powered motorcycles," he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the 47-year-old rider suffered severe injuries and died at the scene, while the two other motorcyclists aged 27 and 46 were also injured.

"They were taken to the Selayang and Kuala Lumpur Hospital respectively for medical treatment. The case has been classified as causing death by reckless or dangerous driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987."
