SEPANG: The 14-year-old girl who was arrested for impersonating a medical officer at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang has been referred to the Sepang Welfare Department.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan today (Sunday) said the authorities had decided on such action yesterday (Saturday) as the girl was still a juvenile.
"She will be referred to the Sepang Welfare Department. In the meantime, we will complete the investigation papers and refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions," he said today.
It was reported that the teenager managed to impersonate a hospital staff member and even accessed an operating theatre because she looked more mature than her age.
The girl's body size and stature were large compared with an average teenager.
Police received a report from a suspicious hospital staff member at 1pm on Aug 7, saying that the girl had identified herself as a medical officer to enter the operating theatre.
The girl told the staff member that she wanted to assist in a surgery that was being performed.
News of the teen's alleged impersonation had gone viral on social media. It was also reported that she would be referred for a psychiatric evaluation.
