BANDAR BAHARU: Continuous heavy rain for nearly an hour this afternoon led to flash floods in three villages in the district.
As of now, 40 victims from 10 families have been affected by the floods that hit Kampung Batu 18 Pekan Serdang, Kampung Bukit Buluh, and Kampung Sungai Punti in Mukim Serdang.
District civil defence officer, Lieutenant (PA) Abdul Rahim Khairuddin, said the heavy rain, which began at 3pm, caused overflow from the main rivers in Mukim Serdang, namely Sungai Serdang and Sungai Punti.
Currently, no temporary evacuation centres have been opened as the flash floods began to recede by 7.15pm.
"Our personnel are still monitoring the affected areas," he said.
