Family pleads for privacy after baby dies at confinement centre

KOTA BARU: The family of a month-old baby who died at a confinement centre here on Monday, has asked for some privacy to be given to his parents.

The boy's uncle who only wanted to be known as Choo said his daughter and her husband were still grieving over the loss of their baby boy.

"I am sorry. At the moment, my daughter as well as her husband are not ready for interview.

"Please give us some space. We are still in shock.

"Today, we still receiving visits from friends and neighbours. We will inform you if we are ready (for the interview)," he said.

It is learnt that a police team also visited the family who lives near Desa Kujid, here, to record their statement.

It was reported yesterday that a nurse was arrested following the death of a month-old baby boy at a confinement centre here.

The 22-year-old nurse has been remanded for seven days to assist in police investigations into the case.

Police investigations revealed that the incident happened at the centre at 5.30am on Monday.

The baby was found unconscious after being fed milk by a nurse assigned to take care of him.

The baby was then rushed to the Kota Baru Medical Centre for treatment but was pronounced dead later.
