KOTA BARU: Police have recorded statements from five people in connection with the death of a month-old baby boy at a confinement centre.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said the baby's parents and the centre owner were among the five.
"Investigations are still ongoing," he said when contacted.
He added police would not close the centre, which is registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, as its operations followed the standard operating procedures.
It was previously reported that a nurse had been arrested following the baby's death on Monday.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act.
The baby was found unconscious after being given milk by a nurse assigned to take care of him.
He was rushed to Kota Baru Medical Centre for treatment but did not survive.
The baby's parents are mulling legal action against the confinement centre.
