ALOR STAR: The number of flood victims in Kedah continues to rise, with 3,956 people from 814 families seeking shelter at 22 temporary relief centres.
This figure, recorded as of 6.30pm today (Sept 18), reflects an increase from the 2,251 victims sheltered at 20 centres across six districts as of 4pm earlier in the day.
According to the Social Welfare Department's Disaster Info mobile app, flood victims in Kubang Pasu were spread across six relief centres, housing 1,537 people from 174 families.
Five centres in Kota Setar are sheltering 1,057 people from 266 families, while two centres in Pokok Sena are providing shelter to 745 flood victims from 202 families.
Three centres in Pendang are sheltering 400 victims from 100 families, and three centres in Kulim have taken in 108 victims from 34 families.
Additionally, three centres in Kuala Muda are accommodating 56 victims from 24 families.
As of 5pm, eight out of nine rivers in the state have recorded water levels exceeding the danger mark.
