Flood victims in Kedah rise to 463

ALOR STAR: The number of flood victims in Kedah has risen to 463 from 161 families, currently sheltered at five temporary flood relief centres across three districts, as of 7.30am today.

This is an increase from the 164 victims from 58 families sheltered at two centres in Kubang Pasu and Padang Terap as reported at 5pm yesterday.

The rise in numbers follows the opening of three additional relief centres yesterday — two in Pokok Sena and one more in Kubang Pasu.

According to the Social Welfare Department's disaster information board, 259 victims from 94 families are now at two relief centres in Kubang Pasu.

Meanwhile, Pokok Sena recorded 153 victims from 48 families across two relief centres since yesterday.

The relief centre in Padang Terap, which opened at noon yesterday, has recorded 51 victims from 19 families so far.

Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir portal reported that four rivers in the state have breached the danger level, with rising water levels observed as of 7am.

The rivers include Sungai Padang Terap, Sungai Laka, Sungai Anak Bukit and Sungai Perik.
