Second wave of Kedah floods eases, 178 evacuees in Pokok Sena return home

ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in Kedah has decreased following an improvement in the situation in the Pokok Sena district.

According to the Kedah Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, the number of evacuees still seeking shelter at 11 relief centres in the state has dropped to 732 people from 227 families after 178 people were allowed to return home.

Pokok Sena is the only district where evacuees have been allowed to return home, with the number reduced to 137 from 39 families in three flood evacuation centres, compared to 315 evacuees earlier.  

The situation however remains unchanged in Baling, with 319 evacuees from 102 families still seeking shelter at five temporary relief centres.

Similarly, Kota Setar continues to house 276 evacuees from 86 families in three flood evacuation centres.

Meanwhile, the Public Infobanjir website shows that no rivers in Kedah have breached danger levels this morning.
