Baling flood relief centres reactivated just a day after being closed X

ALOR STAR: After just a day of reprieve, villagers from several lowly areas in Baling district are back at the temporary flood relief centres (PPS).

Their homes were hit by flash floods yesterday evening following a heavy shower that caused Sungai Ketil to overflow.

According to Kedah Flood Disaster Committee Secretariat update, seven PPS have been activated to house 199 victims from 66 families as of 8am today.

Three PPS in SK Siong, SK Seri Bayu and SK Tanjung Pari were reactivated at 8pm yesterday, just a day after they were closed on Wednesday.

Flash floods hit the villages following heavy rainfall that started about 5pm yesterday.

The other PPSs that were activated between yesterday evening and 3am today are Dewan Kampung Banggol Deram, Surau Kampung Lahar, SMK Parit Panjang, and Surau Albarakah Tembak B.

All the evacuees are from 12 villages located in four Baling subdistricts, namely Siong, Bakai, Pulai and Teloi Kanan.
