Foreign traders give DBKL the slip as food stall dismantled [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign traders operating along Jalan Thambipillay, Brickfields, fled during a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) raid on Wednesday.

In a statement on Facebook, DBKL said its enforcement department, alongside the Bukit Bintang branch office, conducted the raid following a viral video on social media.

"During the operation, two confiscations were made of all business items used by the foreign vendors, but the individuals managed to escape.

"Actions were taken under the Streets, Drainage, and Building Act 1974, and a recommendation to cancel the business licences has been submitted to the Licensing and Business Development Department for further action," it said.

DBKL added that all confiscated items were sent to the Jalan Lombong Confiscation Store in Taman Miharja Cheras for documentation.

"DBKL will continue regular monitoring and enforcement at identified hotspots. The public can file complaints or provide information via the link provided."
