1 killed, 5 hurt in Bukit Gambir crash

MUAR: One person was killed and five others were seriously injured in an accident involving a container lorry and a car near Bukit Gambir.

The crash is believed to have occurred at around 3pm today on the stretch of the North-South Expressway (Plus) between Bukit Gambir and Pagoh, Buletin TV3 reported.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, confirmed the incident when contacted.

He, however, did not reveal the identity of the deceased.

The Malaysian Highway Authority on its X page said the accident occurred at the southbound stretch of KM148.1 of the NSE.

Videos circulating on social media show that the victims, including several children, sustained injuries at the scene.

The incident is believed to have been caused by a skidded trailer, leading to the accident.

The crash caused traffic congestion as the trailer blocked the highway's middle lane.
