KUALA LUMPUR: People who own uncertified or unreadable Qurans can exchange them for certified Qurans during the government's Jom Exchange Al-Quran programme.
The programme is part of the events marking the Madani government's second anniversary.
Home Ministry enforcement and control division secretary Nik Yusaimi Yussof said damaged Qurans could also be exchanged for new ones, with a limit of one Quran per person.
"This morning, 45 Qurans were exchanged.
"We don't have a target for how many Qurans will be exchanged during the programme.
"I encouraged people to participate. We are confident there is enough stock of certified Qurans," he said at the programme's booth today.
Previously, Yusaimi urged people not to buy or read Qurans that were printed without certification stamps or hologram stickers from the Home Ministry.
The programme, themed "Madani di Hati, Rakyat Disantuni", will run from 9am to 6pm.
Services from other ministries, agencies and departments are also available at the event.
The event also features activities and attractive offers, including entrepreneur booths and the Madani Rahmah Sale.
