KUANTAN: A total of 107 out of 217 projects listed under the Pahang State Water Supply Project plan 2021-2026 (Phase 1) have been fully completed as of September this year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said 33 projects were in the midst of implementation while 77 projects were in the pre-construction stages.
"Pengurusan Air Pahang Bhd (Paip) has made detailed planning to solve the water supply issue in every district. In 2022, a task force led by the Menteri Besar and the state secretary visited all the districts in Pahang to gather information on water supply issues and formulate a suitable solution.
"Following the visit, a framework was developed to solve problems across Pahang with funding from various agencies including Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad, Paip's internal allocations, the state government and the federal government.
"The task force monitors the progress of the projects to ensure everything is executed smoothly," he said during the question and answer session at the Pahang state assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang here today.
Wan Rosdy was replying to a question from Khaizul Nizam Mohd Zuldin (BN-Kemayan) on Paip's efforts to conduct a study to identify water supply issues based on priority at each district across Pahang.
On a supplementary question from Khaizul Nizam on efforts to carry out repairs on broken pipes in Pahang, Wan Rosdy replied that to date, 150km of ageing pipes have been installed with new units while works are ongoing to replace another 186km.
When Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (Pas-Cheka) further queried the mechanism adopted by Paip to tackle unscheduled water disruptions, Wan Rosdy assured that all pipe-related issues would be solved within three days.
"Paip offices across Pahang are given three days to solve water supply disruptions if the problem is not major. There are some issues which can be resolved within several hours," he said.
