MUAR: Police are investigating assault allegations by a mobile phone accessories sales assistant against a man in an incident which occurred along Jalan Sekolah Cina, in Pagoh, here, today.
A police report was lodged by the 24-year-old sales assistant, after a one-minute-40 seconds closed circuit television (CCTV) recording of the alleged assault was shared on KHI (Kluang Hari Ini) Facebook page.
The 45-year man who was captured in the footage also lodged a police report.
Muar police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the incident occurred at 1.10pm yesterday, and both parties had lodged police reports.
"We have recorded their statements. Investigations are underway and the case is being investigated under 323 of the penal code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, for insulting behaviour," he said.
The footage depicted the man asking the female sales assistant at the Kedai Telefon Yong Mobile, to change his cracked handphone screen.
The man seemed agitated and took the mobile phone back from the woman, after she had slowly and carefully attempted to remove the existing screen protecter, which is believed was stuck to the LCD screen.
However, a verbal argument ensured when the man started berating her, while she kept on telling him that he was not in the right.
He then used vulgarities against her, and the situation became heated.
The man also attempted to slap the woman on several occasions and started throwing several gadgets on the counter towards her. She retaliated and was also was captured throwing several devices at him.
The commotion, caused a child (not captured in the footage) to start crying, and the man left the premises.
