KUALA LUMPUR: An encounter between two young students, anxious on their first day of school touched many online.
A viral Facebook post from SJK C Yu Hua Kajang tells how the story unfolded as two Year One pupils began their first day of school together.
The post describes how one child was being reassured by her mother at the school.
"Her eyes betrayed a mix of nervousness and she seemed on the verge of tears. Her mother stood nearby, gently coaxing her with soothing words," read the post.
At the same moment, the writer spotted another child, also a Year One student, who seemed equally apprehensive but summoned the courage to extend her hand to the first child.
"This touching and profound moment struck a chord with me, showing the significance of friendship and acceptance. In our multicultural and multireligious society, may everyone discover solace in such heartwarming connections," said the post.
The post further mentioned that there was little verbal communication between the two.
The simple but profound moment struck a chord with Malaysians.
"Hope both of them (will) be friends until they grow old. And when they reminisce about their past, this picture will be a memory for them," said Jeffery Razali
"Muhibbah: a Malay word meaning a feeling of friendship, camaraderie, tolerance, and understanding. It's commonly used in multi-racial, multi-cultural settings as a Rakyat Malaysia," commented Alex Chi Guo Xiang.
"This is the diversity and harmony that we celebrate and should uphold," wrote Syahredzan Johan.
