KUALA LUMPUR: A differently-abled young man was spotted working as a waiter to support his mother's medical treatment.
Pictures shared on the Facebook page Hospitality Problems captured the heartwarming moments of the young man's dedication to his job.
Posted by user Tracy Truong, they showed the young man meekly serving a cup of water to a customer at the cafe where he worked. The words "We can do everything" could be seen behind the counter.
The caption in the posting said: "Initially, he was afraid to serve coffee because he was self-conscious about his appearance, but I called him over and told him it was okay. He did a commendable job."
It added that "we have the power to shape our own path through determination and effort".
"No one can choose how we came to life, but we can always strive to change our destiny."
Although the man and the cafe were not identified, the post had tugged the heartstrings of many netizens, sparking admiration for the man and cafe management.
They also praised Truong for her effort to highlight the young man's story.
User @Jonh Rome said that his tears and gratitude flowed for the young man's courage, along with praises for the person who provided the employment opportunity.
"'Salamat po' for posting this. I'm really in tears, my heart is overwhelmed with mixed joy and pain. I hope this man will be blessed with a brave heart to weather life.
"God bless sa lahat ng taong, who gave him this opportunity and to the people who have shown genuine kindness towards him," he wrote.
User @Geo Dhe praised the cafe company and the young man's courageous journey to help his mum.
"Great job to this company and to this man who took the courage to work and provide for his family. God bless you," he wrote.
User @Jennifer D. Nicholas thanked the company for creating change and its compassion for giving hope and a sense of belonging to those who needed them most.
