#NSTviral: Heads up! Woman on phone sent flying after being hit by car

KUALA LUMPUR: A young woman crossing the road with her phone in hand was struck by a taxi at a pedestrian crossing on Orchard Road in the early hours of Nov 13.

According to a dashcam video shared on the Facebook page of SG Road Vigilante, the 26-year-old woman was thrown by the impact in the 3.15am incident.

The video also showed that she was holding her mobile phone at the time of the collision, and the traffic lights were green, giving right of way to the taxi driver.

In the video, the woman can be seen reaching out to her mobile phone immediately after being thrown several feet.

She moves towards the phone, located about half a metre away. A man, believed to be one of the taxi passengers, is seen running towards her to offer assistance, followed by the taxi driver himself.

The Straits Times reported that the woman was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment.

"The driver, a 67-year-old man, is assisting the police with investigations," reported The Straits Times.
