Johari Abdul loses Sg Petani PKR division chief post

ALOR STAR: Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Johari Abdul failed in his bid to win the PKR Sungai Petani division chief post after losing to Bakar Arang assemblyman, Ooi Tze Min in a three-cornered fight.

Johari, who is also the state PKR chairman lost by 103 votes after polling 464 votes, against Ooi who garnered 567 votes.

Another candidate Mohd Zaid Othman only polled 142 votes.

The results of the state PKR election were announced in the party election portal https://pemilihankeadilan2022.com late yesterday.

Johari is Sungai Petani member of Parliament and also Gurun assemblyman.

The PKR Sungai Petani division chief post was previously held by Sidam assemblyman Dr Robert Ling Kui Ee who left to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in September 2020 following the collapse of Pakatan Harapan federal and state governments.

Meanwhile, former Kedah PKR chairman Che Mat Dzaher Ahmad also failed in his bid for the Pokok Sena division chief post.

Che Mat Dzaher lost by 137 votes to Mohd Altab Pa Ibrahim who garnered 181 votes.

Former state PKR deputy chairman Nasrul Omar Che Mansor also lost in the contest the for Kubang Pasu division chief post after losing to Azizi Azizan in a three-cornered fight.

Nasrul garnered the least votes with 67 votes compared to Azizi who polled 99 votes while the third candidate Mohd Zainuddin Osman secured 71 votes.
