KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah, has no qualms facing former PKR man, Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"You can ask him (how he feels about it). I have no problem facing him.
"He (Kamarudin) was the one who left us, not the other way around," she said when met by reporters after the P124 candidates' nomination process at Institut Latihan DBKL (IDB) today.
Dr Wan Azizah will be facing a three-cornered fight against former PKR man and incumbent member of parliament Kamarudin and Barisan Nasional's Datuk Chew Yin Keen.
Kamarudin, who previously contested under the PKR banner, will now be contesting under Perikatan Nasional in GE15. He had previously secured a total of 41,126 votes for the seat in the 2018 general election.
He also defeated BN's Adnan Abu Senan who had 21,196 votes and Pas' Dr Rosni Adam, who received 7,884 votes.
When asked whether she is confident in winning the seat, Dr Wan Azizah, who is PKR advisory council chairman, hopes that the coalition could maintain the constituency like in the previous election.
"I will also go and see the voters to see if they are facing any political fatigue after the change of party since the last election," she said.
In GE14, Dr Wan Azizah contested in Pandan, where she comfortably won a total of 64,733 votes in a five-cornered fight.
However, she paved the way for PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli to stand in Pandan for GE15. The seat was held by the latter from 2013 to 2018.
Meanwhile, the Bandar Tun Razak constituency was held by former Selangor menteri besar, the late Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, for two terms.
