JOHOR BARU: Nooryana Najwa, the daughter of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, will contest for the Puteri Umno exco post in the upcoming party election.
Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi revealed this in a posting on his Facebook page.
"Today, Yana Najib (Nooryana Najwa) visited me at my service centre in Taman Rengit. She came with Dr Masliha Harun, a candidate for the post of Puteri Umno chief. Yana will be contesting for the Puteri Umno exco post. Good luck," said Puad.
In the 15th General Election, Nooryana, who is a Lembah Pantai Umno member, was reported to be active in helping the party campaign in several states including Perlis, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Pahang and Johor.
It was previously reported that Najib's son, Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin, had offered to contest the deputy Umno Youth chief post in the party election.
Nazifuddin, a Langkawi Umno member, was reported as saying that he wanted to help Umno Youth to attract more young people to strengthen the party.
