Kit Siang denies being a communist, tells Hadi to prove it

KUALA LUMPUR: Lim Kit Siang has urged Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang to provide proof over claim that the DAP veteran is a communist.

He insisted that he has never been a communist and if the allegation was true, Perikatan Nasional (PN) which was in power from 2020 to 2022, would have taken action against him.

"Hadi continues to repeat that I am a communist but failed to provide any evidence.

"If I am a communist, why didn't the Home Ministry arrest me when PN was in power?

"I have never been a communist, but Hadi insists that I am one. When did he discover this?" he said in a statement today.

Kit Siang also reminded Hadi that a communist is not the devil incarnate, as Pas leaders should realise that the peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran was made possible by a communist, Xi Jinping, the President of China.

"I always believe that Malaysia can play a global role and one of these roles is to be an example of understanding, tolerance and harmony between ethnicities, religions, cultures, and civilisations to the rest of the world. Does Hadi agree?" he said.

He also expressed regret that Hadi had chosen to attack him on Hari Raya Aildilfitri.

"I don't know why he picked Hari Raya to launch his attack on DAP and me.

"I have retired from DAP frontline politics for more than a year now and I cannot and will not respond on behalf of the DAP leadership. However, I cannot let Hadi's attack on me go unanswered," he said.

Hadi in his statement published by HarakahDaily yesterday said the communists who had nowhere to hide in the jungles had joined DAP as a cover.

The Marang Member of Parliament also said that DAP had not changed its stance of 'Malaysian Malaysia' as the party openly defended secularism despite Islam being the official religion of the country.
