Sabah PKR leader: Jeffrey's suggestion to use common logo for state polls did not represent GRS's view

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR will decide on the logo to use in the state election after the state legislative assembly is dissolved.

State party information chief Razeef Rakimin said this in response to a suggestion by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan for parties friendly to the coalition to use the GRS common logo during the elections.

Jeffrey, who is Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president, reasoned that by using the same banner, it would portray them as political parties which are united.

GRS comprises eight political parties: STAR, Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, Sabah Progressive Party, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, Parti Cinta Sabah, and United Sabah National Organisation (USNO).

However, Razeef said Jeffrey's statement was merely his personal opinion rather than the official stance of GRS.

"It is more of his personal opinion and not the voice of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

"However, as stated by the Sabah Pakatan Harapan chairman, Datuk Christina Liew, any form of logo usage or cooperation would be announced after the state legislative assembly's dissolution," he said during a press conference at a hotel here.

He added that the same applies to USNO president Tan Sri Pandikar Amin's suggestion that GRS should contest all 73 state seats in Sabah, rather than sharing those seats with others, particularly the peninsula-based parties.

Razeef said Pandikar's statement is inappropriate, as the leaders of those peninsula-based parties are locals.

Yesterday, GRS chief Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the coalition is willing to work with as many political parties as possible.

Meanwhile, on the collaboration with Barisan Nasional, Razeef said Pakatan Harapan has a good relationship with them at both the federal and state-levels.
