KUALA LUMPUR: The rain came and washed out the women's Under-19 T20 Asia Cup match between Malaysia and Pakistan at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval in Klang today.
The fifth placing match between the two nations was declared as a draw.
Malaysia won the toss and decided to field first. Pakistan posted a total of 115 runs with the loss of six wickets.
Malaysia needed to take 116 runs, and made five runs with the fall of two wickets in 3.2 overs when it started to rain.
Malaysia, preparing for the Junior World Cup in Klang next month, ended the T20 Asia Cup tournament with losses to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and a draw against Pakistan.
Malaysian Cricket director of development, Rozlan Abdul Alim Sidique, said the match was abandoned due to the rain, and both the teams were awarded a point.
"Based on our results in the ACC tournament, our team are still far off from the other Asian teams.
"Overall there's a lot of room for improvement for the Malaysian team in every aspect of the game. And we have only one month left to do so before the Junior World Cup begins," said Rozlan.
