KUALA TERENGGANU: Former Terengganu FA (TFA) president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has criticised the association for how it handled the sale of tickets for the Malaysia Cup final between Terengganu and Perak.
Ahmad said that perhaps those responsible for the sale of the cup final tickets used middleman who bought the tickets in bulk before being sold on the black market for much higher profits.
"The way in which the Terengganu FA sold the tickets, I suspect that those responsible perhaps did so the wrong way.
"Because if there is about 30,000 tickets, it can’t all be sold out in just an hour or two. Perhaps those responsible for selling the tickets used others, such as middleman who bought up tickets in bulk to sell on in order to make more of a profit,” he said.
Speaking further on the matter, Ahmad who is also the state’s former Menteri Besar, chided TFA action in only opening one ticket counter selling only 2,000 tickets at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium until it irked and angered fans, as the association received an allocation of 30,000 tickets.
“Fans came in droves, in the thousands only to find one counter open selling a limited amount of tickets. Don’t tell me they can’t think of the consequences with all the years of experience?
“Why couldn’t they open say 10 counters instead as well as make provisions for one counter to serve only ladies? I have been observant,” Ahmad said.
