KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's Ifedayo Omosuyi smashed the Super League's Golden Boot record by scoring a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over Sabah at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu on Sunday.
The Nigerian striker has 25 goals so far this season, overcoming Lebanese Mohamad Ghaddar's record of 23 goals in 2017.
Omosuyi scored the opening two goals against Sabah in the 22nd and 24th minutes before Mukhairi Ajmal netted Selangor's third just before half-time.
Karsten Neitzel's side added a fourth through Nor Hakim Hassan in the 46th minute.
Substitute Danial Asri scored the fifth in the 76th minute while Omosuyi netted his third a minute before the final whistle.
The Golden Boot race, however, is far from over as Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) Bergson da Silva has 23 goals with one match to go this season.
Selangor are fifth in the standings with 36 points, three points ahead of sixth-placed Kuala Lumpur City.
In Kuantan, Penang moved up to second spot with 40 points after a 2-1 win over Sri Pahang.
It was Pahang who took the lead through Baqiuddin Shamsudin in the 61st minute.
Penang replied through Endrick dos Santos (68th minute) and Danial Ashraf Abdullah (72nd).
