KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah reached the knockout stage of the AFC Cup following today's 5-1 thrashing of Cambodia's Visakha FC in Bali.
Aidil Sharin Sahak's side and Visakha earned six points each, but the former topped Group G on goal difference.
Mahmoud Al-Mardi was the toast of the Red Eagles after scoring three times for his team.
The Jordanian international scored in the 28th, 45th and 54th minutes to cancel Visakhi's opening goal through Mohammed Faaez Khan in the 20th minute.
Fayadh Zulkifli scored Kedah's fourth in the 67th minute.
Ronald Ngah made amends for his penalty miss in the 12th minute by scoring Kedah's fifth in the 76th minute.
In Group H, KL City defeated Singapore's Tampines Rovers 2-1 at KLFA Stadium in Cheras, but it was not enough to top their group and qualify for the next stage.
KL and PSM Makassar finished equal on four points with the latter topping the group on goal difference.
