KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor, the former giants of Malaysian football, will ditch their German DNA and start anew next season.
CEO Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon admitted that Selangor need something new to regain their glory days.
For the record, the Red Giants have not won a title since their 2015 Malaysia Cup triumph under then-coach Mehmet Durakovic.
"We are aware that fans are unhappy, and we will make changes for the new season.
"Former head coach Michael Feichtenbeiner is no longer involved in the team," said Johan.
"It is now 100 per cent under caretaker coach Nidzam Jamil. Feichtenbeiner is just helping with the transition and handover for the new season until a replacement comes in."
It is understood that Feichtenbeiner's contract expires this year, and Selangor will not offer an extension.
"We will assess Nidzam's performance first with the team. We are in no rush to hire someone new.
"There are candidates, and we are screening them. Feichtenbeiner's assistant Karsten Neitzel is till part of Nidzam's coaching staff."
Selangor are ninth in the Super League with 16 points from 15 games.
