Selangor's new Japanese coach faces Thai test

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC's new coach, Japanese Katsuhito Kinoshi, faces his first test tomorrow.

And it will not be an easy one as they take on Thai side Muangthong United in an AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) Group H match at the MBPJ Stadium.

Kinoshi, 60, who took over the Red Giants on Monday, said his philosophy is to play aggressively and not give up till the final whistle.

"One week ago I was with Serbia (as their national team's assistant coach), we played against Denmark and Switzerland.

"I'm very honored to be here. I'm very proud to fight with good players in the ACL2. You can expect a good match," said Kinoshi today.

"Muangthong are a very good team and they are led by an Italian coach. They had won four matches in a row, so we must be prepared against this kind of strong team.

"Maybe they will play 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1, maybe with four backs, but actually I don't care, we don't care about their systems.

"We will focus on our team on how to fight, this is the most important thing. They have good players like (Felicio) Brown, Tristan Do but we, too, have good players like (Ronnie) Fernandez and (Yohandry) Orozco."

Selangor are lying second in Group H with seven points from four matches, and a win over Muangthong can secure their spot in the round of 16.
