KUALA LUMPUR: The men’s national lawn bowls team picked up Malaysia’s second gold medal in the sport after successfully defeating Brunei 19-9 after the 17th ends at the National Lawn Bowls Centre, Bukit Kiara National Sports Complex this morning.
The team, consisting of Mohammad Syamil Syazwan Ramli, Mohamad Fairuz Abd Jabal and Mohd Amir Mohammed Yusof, did well to extend the gap at each ends to beat Bruneians Ampuan Ahad Ampuan Kasim, Pengiran Haji Tengah Pengiran Haji Tejudin and Haji Naim Brahim.
Thailand’s trio, Wattana Kadkhunthod, Anan Naksaray and Thanakrit Thammasarn, clinched the bronze medal when they beat the Philippines 20-13.
Next, the Malaysian’s women’s trio will face the Philippines in a fight for the gold medal, while Thailand and Brunei vie for the bronze medal.
