Sim racers can experience iconic KL City landmarks on newly created street circuit

KUALA LUMPUR: Legion of Racers (LOR), an esports and entertainment entrepreneur, has created a virtual Kuala Lumpur (KL) City Street Circuit.

Sim racers can now drive past iconic KL City landmarks that include the Petronas Twin Towers, the KL Tower and the Bukit Nanas train station.

The virtual track was conceptualised and created by the co-founders, Melvin Moh and Lim Keong Wee.

Moh said it is essential to include Malaysia's iconic buildings in the circuit as these structures are recognised globally, which hold immense appeal for sim racing enthusiasts and drivers alike.

"We have been developing city tracks for sim racers to participate in for the HyperDrive Cities since 2021.

"When we worked on the Orchard Road Street Circuit, we thought that it would be great to include KL into our portfolio.

"It took seven months to build the KL City Street Circuit, including gathering the data of the surroundings using online sources until the track was completed." said Moh, adding that the KL circuit is the third in the series, the first two being Singapore and Indonesia.

The KL Street Circuit track that draws inspiration from the 2015 KL City Grand Prix offers two layouts, which are 3.5km and 4.7km.

The upcoming edition of HyperDrive Cities, an annual online esports sim racing competition, is set to feature the KL Street Circuit. Winners of the competition stand to gain a substantial prize of RM34,000.

Details on HyperDrive Cities 2023, which will take place at the end of the year, will be released in the coming weeks.
