KUALA LUMPUR: Germany's men and women's teams will train in Kuala Lumpur in April next year for the World Athletics Relays Championships in Guangzhou, China on May 10-11.
Among the German athletes coming here are Paris Olympics bronze medallists (women's 4x100m) Alexandra Burghardt, Lisa Mayer, Gina Luckenkemper, Rebekka Haase and Sophia Junk.
They will be in KL for three weeks of training.
Malaysian Athletics Federation (MAF) team manager Nurhayati Karim said 30 to 50 German runners will train in Kuala Lumpur to acclimatise before they leave for Guangzhou for the World Relays championships.
"The German coaches and athletes will also have a coaching clinic and workshop in KL to share their knowledge with our national coaches and athletes.
"Our national athletes will also benefit from training with the Germans as they will get the chance to learn about sprint techniques and other aspects," said Nurhayati.
German Athletics Association chairman Idriss Gonschinska and Julian Reus, who is also the team manager of the relay teams, arranged the Malaysian training stint with MAF vice president and coaching chairman Datuk Wira Mark Ling.
