PUTRAJAYA: The MongolZ finally secured their first win at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M6 World Championship, defeating Vietnam's Legion eSports in the wild card stage today.
Heading into the match, the Mongolian team had already suffered defeats to Russia's Insilio and Brazil's RRQ Akira, which dashed their hopes of advancing from Group B.
After dropping the first game to Legion, it seemed the MongolZ were on course for a third straight defeat.
However, they staged an impressive comeback, winning the next two games to clinch a 2-1 victory at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Centre in Putrajaya.
MongolZ roamer Turbayar "Shenlynn" Bulgan hailed his team's win, describing it as a good learning experience.
"I've learned a lot from other players and teams, but unfortunately, our performance wasn't good enough," said the 18-year-old today.
"This is our first international tournament, and we let nerves and pressure get to us. It affected our gameplay, as we felt we could have beaten RRQ Akira and Insilio.
"We made too many mistakes, but the lessons learned here will help us perform better next year."
The defeat for Legion eSports also ended their hopes of progressing further in the competition.
