#Showbiz: Adira makes a comeback

The Soundtrack Queen makes a comeback with a song on a hit TV series.

SINGER Siti Adira Suhaimi wants to start this year anew, that means giving her full commitment and focus to her singing career, and making sure that her personal life stays out of the limelight.

The 27-year-old Ranau-born artiste, who began her musical journey by taking part in Akademi Fantasia Season 8, is also known as the “Soundtrack Queen”.

“I don’t mind being called that actually. I take it as something positive for my career,” she says.

Her latest single outing, Pujaan Hati, is the soundtrack for Pujaan Hati Kanda, a popular drama series airing on TV3, which stars Remy Ishak, Mira Filzah, Sarah Hildebrand, Azar Azmi and Syazwan Zulkifly.

“I didn’t expect the single to be well-received. I suppose the hit drama series helped make it popular,” she says happily.

“But I’d like to see this song go beyond the shadow of the TV series, all the way to Anugerah Juara Lagu next year.

“Any Malaysian singer want their songs to compete at the annual song competition,” says Adira, who slowed down her career after her marriage to Datuk Seri Adnan Abu a.k.a. Datuk Red, 40, in 2015.

“It was never my intention to slow down at that time. But then I had my first child, and then another...,” says the mother of Anggrek, 2, and four-month-old Asan.

“So now singing is my priority again. No more missing in action after this,” says Adira with a laugh.

GRAPEVINE

After signing with Nova Music last August, Adira hit the recording studios a month after giving birth to her second child.

By Dec 17, Pujaan Hati was released with a lyrics video on Nova Music Videos’ YouTube channel. The video has now logged more than a million viewers.

Adira recently launched the official music video directed by Khairul Hazwan as well as the music video for karaoke available exclusively at all Red Box, Green Box and Red Box Plus karaoke outlets.

Although she has two hildren, she is committed to juggling her music career and her role as mummy.

“I’m fortunate to have people to help me balance these two responsibilities. I have to put in extra work to make it work. I just need to be consistent,” adds Adira, who says she gets the full support from her husband to focus on her career.

She also wants to ensure her life is free from controversy.

“I don’t want my children to be affected by it.”

Adira denies rumours of marriage troubles and is not bothered by grapevine gossip.

“I don’t see the point. Rather than worrying about such idle talk, may as well focus on positive things.

“Strangers will have their own opinions about me. You cannot stop them. It’s a free country.

“I’m still happily married, thank you,” she says with a twinkle in her eye.
