#Showbiz: Actress Wafa in chronic pain due to cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular 90s actress Wafa Abdul Kadir is currently seeking treatment for severe pain at the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya.

The 52-year-old is suffering from stage 4 ovarian and peritoneal cancer.

Her husband, Tajul Faizal Tamimuddin said that she had sought treatment after complaining of severe stomach pain.

“Currently she is suffering from two things; chronic pain and cancer,” he said in a news report today.

“Wafa is still unconscious. The doctors are deciding on a suitable medicine that would alleviate the pain, before they could focus on cancer treatment,” he added.

Wafa who rose to popularity through movies as Azizah The Legend and the Gerak Khas television drama, was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014.

The following year, she underwent surgery to remove her ovaries, fallopian tube, womb and ormentum (a layer that surrounds the abdominal organs).

She was then diagnosed with stage 4 peritoneal cancer.

Since 2016, the actress has undergone 18 rounds of chemotherapy.

Describing his wife as an extremely strong woman who never gave up battling the big C, Tajul said that Wafa would be going for another round of chemotherapy once the severe pain subsides.
