KUALA LUMPUR: Film producer Datuk Yusof Haslam is unfazed by the recent landslide in Taman Melawati, which occurred just 500 meters from his home.
Yusof explained that while the landslide happened close to his hillside residence, the incident did not affect his property.
He took preventive measures 27 years ago when he first moved in, following an earlier minor collapse.
"I'm not worried because I've reinforced the hillside with concrete, based on an engineer's advice. I also have the area inspected every year for safety," he told Berita Harian.
He added that landslides in the area were not surprising, given past instances of erosion.
To ensure safety, Yusof regularly inspects the property with his workers.
"If any damage occurs, I fix it myself. I don't wait for the council since they have other areas to handle. It's an expense, but safety is my priority," he said.
Yusof remains vigilant, monitoring his home's condition weekly to prevent any potential issues.
