KUALA LUMPUR: Men's pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani's great run in the World Tour came to an end today in the Denmark Open first round.
The world No. 8 duo's hopes of securing a third consecutive tournament victory were dashed by Thailand's Kedren Kittinupong-Puavaranukroh Dechapol who won 21-13, 21-13 in just 32 minutes.
This snapped their 10-match winning streak, which included triumphs at last month's China Open and last week's Arctic Open in Finland.
Izzuddin offered no excuses for their underwhelming performance in Odense.
"We gave our best today, but our opponents were simply better," he said.
"We need to improve both physically and mentally."
Sze Fei echoed his partner's sentiments, saying that despite winning three titles since August, they must continue to elevate their game.
"There's still room for improvement in terms of our focus," he said.
The pair will take a month-long break before returning to action at the Kumamoto Masters in Japan.
In mixed doubles, veterans Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing cleared their first hurdle, dispatching England's Ethan Van Leeuwen-Chloe Birch 21-7, 21-14.
