KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 76,771 rank and file army personnel are expected to enjoy better pay grade (up to Band 5) by July this year, following the upgraded Armed Forces pay band system.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein said the upgraded system would involve RM115.49 million.
“The initiative will result in salary increase for 76,771 rank and file personnel as well as retirement benefits for 19,436 veterans.
“Meanwhile, through a revised incentive payment that involves RM11.8 million, a total of 15,134 armed forces personnel would receive the benefits,” he said in his speech at the 2016 Defence Ministry event held at Wisma Perwira, here today.
The government, said Hishammuddin, has approved the restructuring of the current system to enable every personnel to have the opportunity to achieve the highest grade, which is Band 5.
