Kedah MB took a car for test drive at Juru Autocity? Cops probing

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police have opened an investigation paper (IP) following several viral photos and videos, believed to involve Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor at a vehicle sales centre at Juru Autocity, here yesterday, going for a test drive.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd Samad said the IP was opened under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Disease Prevention Measure and Control Act 2021.

"Yes, police have opened IP over the photos and video which went viral since yesterday. Further investigations are ongoing.

"Police will call everyone believed to be involved in the matter including the car salesman, the Menteri Besar and those who were there to assist investigations," he said today.

Since yesterday, social media has been abuzz with photos and videos of a salesman and several individuals, believed to be Muhammad Sanusi, who was test driving a car at the centre.

This was despite the country now being placed under a two-week total lockdown.

The posting, on several Facebook pages, received condemnation from various quarters, questioning how the Menteri Besar could go for a test drive when vehicle sales centres were not part of the essential services allowed to operate during the total lockdown.
